SERVICE PROJECTS
Bobby, an eccentric, ambles through the coke-bottle lens of a mid-morning glaze in a mid-town office building. The year is 1959. Stairwells echo Birdland lullabies as kitten heels clatter and clap. Paper clips and Parker pens perturbed by bullet point bureaucracy, now rest. In the shadow of midday lives a time of sacred ceremony, where communion is black coffee and cream top cakes. Teaspoons clink saucers like cymbals in the ballad of breakroom. Secretaries gaggle and swoon. Napkins talk of rouge red whispers left by perfect lips of saccharine scarlets. Bobby taps his toe to the rhythm of the secondhand swing as the clockface winks and the chorus rings out.
